Getaway Cabins

A Home Away From Home...

A storage shed can easily become a cabin with just a few upgrades! Cabins are custom built for you, so you can specify exactly the options you need. Whether you are looking for a basic cabin shell or something a little more sophisticated, just bring us your ideas! We will help you create that special place of your own. We have multiple siding options in a variety of colors. It's your cabin after all, so the choice is up to you!

Custom Cabins Created By Pine Creek Structures

When turning one of our structures into a cabin, we recommend considering the following upgrades:

  • Add a porch. Porches help give a shed the look of a home. They also provide an outdoor area to gather and enjoy nature together as a family. By adding a porch, you can also create a loft area inside for extra storage or sleeping space. Porches are available with or without railing.
  • Upgrade from a standard shed door to a house door. This really helps turn a shed into a cabin! Fiberglass house doors with windows allow extra natural light inside and let you see who's outside when you hear a knock on the door. House doors also include a standard door knob (instead of a t-handle on shed doors). You can also add a deadbolt for added security if desired. You can choose if you want the door to swing out or in and whether the hinges are on the left or right.
  • Add venting. This is an important upgrade we recommend for every cabin! Venting allows your building to breathe and air to circulate. A ridge vent and gable end vents allow warm, humid air to leave your cabin. Vented eaves provide an source of fresh, cooler air to help push warm humid air out ridge and gable vents. Without proper ventilation, your building will sweat trying to get the moisture out of the air.
  • Insulate the floor, walls, and/or roof and choose insulated window and doors. Insulation will help keep the warm air from your heater inside  and prevent the cold air from outside from sneaking in during the fall and winter. Various kinds of insulation options are available for the flooring, walls, and roofing. Insulated doors and windows are available in a variety of style and sizes.
  • Raise the wall height. Depending on the size and style of the base shed you are customizing into a cabin, you may want to increase the wall height. This may be simply for comfort or it may be necessary for the other upgrades you choose.
  • Add extra doors and windows. Depending on the size of the cabin you are designing, you may desire multiple entrances and exits. You may also want additional windows for added natural light and to let in a cool breeze on a warm day. They can be placed almost any way you desire!
  • Ask us to frame out walls to create rooms inside. In large cabins, you may want to split up the the space into separate areas, rather than have one common area. We can frame out these rooms so they are ready for the interior finishing you choose to proceed with. (We specialize in cabin shells, not cabins with interior finishing. If you desire interior finishing, discuss your options with you local store manager. Please note, interior finishes will often cause a significant increase in production time on your cabin.)
  • Ask about electrical packages. Some DIY-ers are great at finishing the interior themselves, but need help with the electrical components. We have a variety of electrical packages available including lights, light switches, and receptacles. Components can each be placed inside the cabin as you desire.

Before placing your order: Make sure to check any regulations and codes set by your state, county, or township. Once your cabin is in production, changes can be costly and delay delivery. Make sure to communicate any state, county, or township requirements when designing your cabin with your local store manager. We are not responsible for making sure that your cabin meets your local regulations ourselves, but will gladly help you design a cabin that meets the requirements you inform us of.

Like our sheds, cabins are generally delivered fully assembled to your site. If your cabin cannot be delivered fully assembled or your needs are larger than we can transport, we can also build at your location to your specifications. Please note: Our Rent To Own program is not available on buildings you intend to live in, including cabins. No exceptions.

*Did You Know? Porcupines LOVE to eat T1-11 siding! The special processes when making LP Smart Side make it much less appealing to porcupines to munch on.*

► High Quality Exterior Paint - This updated color blends into a variety of settings and seasons

► FLEXION Roofing - Very durable, able to withstand the elements, rated for commercial roofs, and meets most major code requirements

► Aluminum Flashing - Flashing on corners, windows, roof, and door creates a weather tight seal and directs water away from seams

► Insulated Floor with Exterior Floor Sheeting - Foam insulation helps retain heat and reduce noise. Pressure treated exterior sheeting closes off blind bottom (where bees and other pests would normally love to set up a home!)

► Insulated Walls - Fully insulated with 2" foam (R Value 8.5) helps retain heat and reduce noise

► Carpeted & Uninsulated Ceiling - Carpet on the ceiling helps reduce noise. Leaving the ceiling without insulation eliminates condensation.

► Carpeted Interior - Easy to clean, outdoor grade carpet withstands dirt, mud, and water. Complete interior carpeting reduces noise.

► Oversized, Quiet Tinted Windows - Tinted plexiglass offers concealment and great clarity. Oversized windows increase visibility and shooting angles. Window frames are fully felt wrapped to make windows quiet and use easy.

► Window Gaskets - Create a weatherproof and bug proof seal

► Two Vents - Mesh lined vents provide ventilation when a heater is used and allow the fumes to be vented directly up and not out the windows reducing scent. They can also be closed when not needed.

► Accessory Shelf - Provides cup holders and an area to keep all your items organized and within easy reach

Sun-Mar Composting Toilets

Sun-Mar toilets are the safest and most environmentally friendly method of waste treatment. These composting toilets evaporate liquids and compost the solids, so on most models there is absolutely no output and no contamination of ground water. Sun-Mar composting toilets have saved over 3.3 billion gallons of water and counting!

Sun-Mar is a world leader in composting toilet technology with a unique, patented Bio-drum™ design that means fast, odor-free composting. Sun-Mar toilets are the only ones certified by NSF to NSF/ANSI Standard #41 for residential and cottage use (most regulators require NSF certification). They're designed so air is constantly being drawn in and up the vent stack providing odor-free operation. Sun-Mar’s unique 3 chamber technology means easy operation and maintenance.

They are an ideal solution...

• Where it's not possible or cost-effective to install a conventional toilet

• As an environmentally friendly alternative

• For homes, garages, warehouses, barns, pool cabanas, cabins, mines, RV’s, boats, and other locations

What is Composting?

Composting converts organic matter back to its essential minerals. Aerobic microbes do this in the presence of moisture and air, by converting carbon to carbon dioxide gas, and hydrogen to water vapor. As a result, some 95% of the starting material is evaporated and the resulting compost is recycled back to nature.

Self-Contained vs. Central Units

3 Easy Steps to determine Which model is right for me?

Step 1: Self-Contained vs. Central Units

Self-Contained Units

Self-Contained units are installed directly in the bathroom.

Main Features:

• Quick and easy to install

• Waterless – no plumbing required

• Electrical units can evaporate all liquids under normal conditions

• Easy to clean having a durable shiny contoured finish

Central Units

Central units have a conventional looking toilet in the bathroom and a separate composting unit. They are available in two styles - low water flush and A/F waterless.

Low water style systems:

• Feature a conventional looking toilet in the bathroom

• Can be connected to multiple bathrooms

Waterless style systems (A/F kit required):

• Feature a conventional looking toilet in the bathroom

• No plumbing necessary

Step 2: Electric vs. Non-Electric

Electric Units

Select an electric composting toilet if you have a standard electricity supply. These units feature high quality fans and thermostatically controlled heaters.

Non-Electric Units

Select these if you have no power or are using alternative energy. These toilets feature a higher capacity ventilation stack.

Dual Voltage

Select the AC/DC Kit if you require the option of operating in a standard electric mode (115 Volt) or with only a 12 Volt 1.4 fan or with no power at all.

Step 3: Capacity

Select a toilet based on the right capacity for your needs. Although advertised capacities can be doubled for short periods, selecting a toilet with the maximum number of users in mind in recommended. Sun-Mar offers units with capacities ranging from 1 adult to 6 adults (or a family of 8).

Why Compost?

A SUN-MAR Garden Composter is a gardener’s dream. You know that by recycling you are doing the right thing, and it’s fun to produce your own compost effortlessly.

Benefits of Composting Your Kitchen and Yard Waste Include:

  1. Healthier plants, because of the improved soil structure and additional nutrients in the compost
  2. Reduced waste disposal costs
  3. FREE source of fertilizer
  4. Reduced water bills, because soil mixed with
compost retains water better than regular soil

Four Reasons You’ll Enjoy Using Our Sun-Mar Composters:

  1. You’ll be creating first class
    compost material
  2. You’ll send less waste to the dump
  3. You’ll have easy to use,
    top-of-the line equipment
  4. Less likely to be bothered by pests

Composting the SUN-MAR way

Keep the compost moist and oxygenated.

This means rotating the drum regularly to add oxygen, and adding water when the compost gets dry.

Aim for the right carbon/nitrogen ratio.

Adding a mixture of kitchen and regular yard waste is effective, but for better, faster results, add carbon-rich material (browns) like sawdust, straw, dry leaves, or wood chips. These balance the nitrogen-rich green material and kitchen waste. Chop up the waste if possible: the smaller it is, the faster the breakdown process.

Keep the compost warm.

This is not usually a concern because the compost in the drum and the drum’s insulating properties keep the heat in.

If you use only kitchen waste, you may need to add bulking material or pre-composted material to help with oxygen penetration as the drum rotates.
